I am very happy to announce that I will be in Amsterdam this fall and will be offering a ONE DAY (8 hour long) Street Photography Workshop on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017. Because this workshop is only one day enrolment is going to be limited to 4 students only!
Do you have a new found interest in photographing the genre of street photography? Are you a current street photographer looking to add new skills to your existing repertoire? Do you love the idea of exploring a city and discovering new things about it? If so, this is the workshop for you.
I find street photography to be an incredibly satisfying way to document the world around you, to create new art and to express your vision of the world. Unlike portraiture or landscape photography that is often calculated and planned, street photography requires you to constantly observe, be fluid and be ready.
What does this mean for me? It means that the world is a stage and that there is beauty on the streets waiting to be captured. A street photographer knows how to become part of those streets, how to blend in and how to capture those rare but beautiful decisive moments that happen. A street photographer understands that street photography is about people, not camera settings. It is about moments, not perfect exposures. A well crafted street photograph tells a story. This hands on workshop is designed to help you find and tell your own stories through the medium of street photography.
ABOUT THIS AMSTERDAM STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP:
This one day (8 hour) workshop is perfect for novice to intermediate photographers, or advanced photographers who are new to the genre of street photography.
In the morning we will meet for coffee and work our way through a presentation for about an hour or so, discussing all things street photography and my approach to the genre.
Once this session is done we will hit the streets, where I will work one on one with each of you to ensure all of your questions are answered. This one on one time is very important to me as an educator, which is why this workshop is limited to 4 participants only.
Toward the end of the day we will all re-group and discuss our day of shooting. Afterwards I will review my approach to editing and post processing my street images, then we’ll have a final question and answer period to wrap things up!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Long before I became a professional photographer, I was an educator. I have multiple college diplomas in Adult Education and have 20 years of instructional and curriculum design experience, up to and including teaching at the college level. I love adult education, and have taught over 20,000 students in my career.
This is an important point to consider when shopping for a workshop that meets your needs. There are many people out there that are brilliant at their craft, but education is a separate skill set. When you are spending your hard earned dollars, always ensure you are going to be working with somebody that is well versed in both. They are out there for sure, and are well worth spending the time with.
As mentioned, this Amsterdam Street Photography workshop is limited to 4 students, to ensure I get to have sufficient one on one time with each student.
I strive to keep course costs as low as possible, as I believe education should be accessible.
The cost for this Amsterdam Street Photography Workshop is $225 Canadian per course participant. As of today this works out to about 150 Euro per student.
A great deal!
WHAT KIND OF IMAGES WILL WE BE MAKING?
One of the greatest things about street photography is that it is unpredictable… you will never make the same image twice. Having said that, here is a small selection of images I have made from around the world over the last few years to give you an idea of what we may see during the workshop.
NOTE: This workshop is now sold out!
